FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Zone Archery – FAQ

1. How is arrow straightness measured?

Every Zone arrow shaft is tested with high precision using a rotating laser-scan system that validates straightness across the entire shaft. This hands-free method eliminates human error and ensures the most accurate data possible.

2. What is the straightness tolerance of Zone arrows?

Zone arrows do not use “Premier” or “Standard” labeling. Instead, each series clearly specifies its straightness:

  • Podium Series: ±0.001"

  • Carbon X1: ±0.001"

  • Carbon X3: ±0.003"

Straightness specifications are always listed for each arrow series to avoid confusion.

3. What are half-spine options and how do they work?

Zone offers half-spine options such as 650, 550, and 450 to provide more precise tuning. Podium Series A/C (Aluminum/Carbon) arrows are designed to react slightly weaker (about 20–30 points) compared to standard charts.
Tip: If your setup is right on the edge between two spines, we recommend moving to the stiffer half-spine size.

Example:
For a recurve bow with 39 lbs draw weight and 28-inch arrow length, the spine chart suggests 600 spine. In this case, the better choice would be a 550 Podium A/C.

4. Can I use components from other brands?

For the best fit and durability, we recommend using Zone components with Zone shafts. Using other brands may result in poor fitment or durability issues, and it voids warranty and replacement options.

5. How do I know if my arrow shaft is damaged?

Check your arrows after every shooting session:

  • Inspect both ends for cracks or deformation.

  • Visually check the shaft surface for splinters or failures.

  • Hold the arrow by both ends and gently flex it – if you hear crackling or notice any unusual bend, discard the shaft immediately.

Safety first: never shoot a damaged carbon or A/C shaft.

6. What is “360° Consistent Flex”?

Traditionally, carbon arrows have a “stiff axis” (a spine line) running along the shaft. Zone’s advanced manufacturing eliminates this imbalance, creating a shaft with 360° uniform stiffness.

  • No need for spine indexing.

  • Easier tuning and grouping.

  • Improved consistency and downrange accuracy.

7. What is a collar and when should it be used?

A collar is a protective sleeve installed on the back end of the shaft. It prevents splitting or cracking upon impact.
⚠️ Note: Once a collar is installed, the arrow must be used with pin + pin nock. Out nocks are not compatible with collars.

8. Are there restrictions on cutting Podium A/C shafts?

Yes. Podium A/C shafts are designed to be cut only from the point end. Cutting from the nock end will alter spine consistency.

9. How should I install points with hot-melt glue?

Use a small low-temperature flame, such as an alcohol lamp, to gently heat the point — just enough to melt the hot-melt glue. Avoid using high-temperature tools like heat guns, as they may overheat the point and transfer too much heat into the shaft.

Apply a thin layer of glue, insert and rotate the point into the shaft, and let it cool naturally in air or on a damp cloth.

⚠️ Tips:

  • Do not overheat the point — excessive heat can damage the shaft’s carbon/epoxy bond.

  • Do not quench in water while the point is inside the shaft — uneven cooling may cause the point to bend.

10. How do I remove a point from the shaft?

Gently reheat the point with a low-temperature flame (such as an alcohol lamp) until the hot-melt glue softens. Then, carefully pull and twist the point out of the shaft using pliers.

⚠️ Tips:

  • Use low heat only — avoid high-temperature heat guns or prolonged heating, which may damage the carbon/epoxy structure of the shaft.

  • Heat the point only, not the shaft directly.

  • Allow the shaft to cool naturally after removal.

  • Do not force the point out while the glue is still solid, as this may crack the shaft.

11. Why is my order processed by a local distributor instead of directly by Zone Archery?
To help our customers save on shipping costs, exchange rates, transaction fees, and import duties, some orders placed on our website are processed by our authorized regional distributors.

This approach allows us to:

  • Ship from the most suitable location (reducing international shipping costs)

  • Use local accounts and currency (avoiding high exchange fees)

  • Handle customs clearance more efficiently

  • Provide access to special promotions or discounts offered by local distributors

No matter where your order is processed, you will always receive the same Zone Archery product quality, warranty, and after-sales service.
