General Arrow Selection Tips

These are general guidelines from Zone Archery. For personalized tuning support, please visit your local Zone Dealer or contact us directly.

  • Point Weight: The chart is based on a 100-125grain point. If you use a 150+grain point, you may need a stiffer spine. With an 80-grain point, you may need a weaker spine.

  • Draw Weight: As your actual draw weight increases or decreases, the recommended spine changes. Adjusting point weight can also help fine-tune the match.

  • Arrow Length: In practice, we use arrow length (not just draw length). With modern drop-away rests, arrow length and draw length are not always proportional. For the same spine, a shorter arrow will shoot stiffer than a longer arrow. Recurve archers should carefully match draw weight and arrow length on the spine chart.

  • Final Results Matter: Charts and tuning methods are guidelines. If your bare shafts and fletched shafts group differently, trust the setup that delivers the best results. Accuracy and consistency on target are always the most important.

Special Note for Podium Series A/C (Aluminum/Carbon Shaft)

Podium Series A/C arrows include 650, 550, and 450 half-spine options. If your setup is close to the lower limit of a spine group, we recommend selecting the stiffer half-spine size. For example, if your draw weight is just below the next stiffer category, choosing the stiffer half-spine (e.g., 650 instead of 700) may provide better results.
