Safety
To ensure safe usage of arrows, it's crucial to carefully inspect them before each use, even if they're new. Any damage, no matter how minor, can lead to serious injury if the arrow breaks upon release. Here's a revised structure and sequence for your safety guidelines:
CHECK EVERY ARROW, EVERY SHOT
ARROW DAMAGE
Any arrow—even a brand-new one—can be damaged. A damaged arrow may break upon release, causing injury to yourself or others.
Damage often occurs from improper transport, rough handling, hard impacts, or after shooting into game animals. Even if damage is not obvious, it can still exist.
If there is any suspicion of damage:
-
DISCARD THE ARROW immediately.
ARROW USE PRECAUTIONS
Before every shot, including the first shot of a new arrow:
-
Inspect the shaft and components carefully.
-
Hold the arrow between your fingers, slowly rotating it while examining the full length. Look and feel for:
-
Cracks, splits, dents, or nicks.
-
Irregularities hidden under cresting, if applicable.
-
-
REMOVE THE ARROW from use if any damage is found.
Also check:
-
Nocks: Ensure they are secure and undamaged. Apply light twisting pressure to confirm they fit tightly.
-
Bow setup: Confirm proper adjustment and compatibility with arrow draw length and draw weight.
ADDITIONAL TESTS FOR CARBON ARROWS
-
Flex Test
-
Grasp the shaft just above the point and below the nock.
-
Flex the arrow slightly (1–2 inches) while looking, feeling, and listening for cracking.
-
Rotate and repeat several times.
-
DISCARD THE ARROW if any cracking sound or vibration is detected.
-
-
Twist Test
-
Hold the shaft at both ends and apply opposite twisting pressure.
-
If the arrow feels soft, relaxes, or twists abnormally, this indicates damage.
-
DISCARD THE ARROW if this occurs.
-
CARBON ARROW CUTTING
-
Only use a high-speed arrow cut-off saw.
-
Using other tools may splinter or weaken the shaft.
-
DISCARD THE ARROW if cut improperly.
SOLVENTS
-
Do not soak carbon arrows in solvents.
-
Chemicals may weaken the resin bond of the carbon fibers.
-
DISCARD THE ARROW if exposed.
CONCLUSION
To reduce risk of injury or equipment damage:
-
Carefully follow all inspection and safety guidelines.
-
When in doubt, do not shoot the arrow. Seek assistance if you are unsure.
⚠️ WARNING: NEVER SHOOT A DAMAGED ARROW.
